Yum and Drool is all I can think of to say about this beautiful list. And your food poetry is in the shape of a fancy stair baluster.

Cyndy: I'm going to be dumping food things on this blog and a blog I started last year and did nothing with: Culinary Cube. It's purpose was twofold (so far.) One: to help me go through old three-ringed notebooks of recipes. Test them. Either save them or toss, and if "save" dump them here. Also, a group of friends used to have a group page on AOL--since deleted by AOL, but we used it as a message board, but also a recipe saver, and we lost this infamous chili recipe none of us have been able to find, so I created it for that group as well.

ALSO....I want to go back early this year and write the blog pieces I never got to last year...general tidying, so a lot of what I'm writing about may not be "timely" or "pertinent" but at least I got it done and it's there.

I haven't tried all of those, but I LOVE tomato and mozzarella, and blue cheese and pear. (I also really like gorgonzola and fig.) Hmmm, apparently, I like cheese a lot.

Roar: I was so gungho to get back writing caught up, and write new pieces and get out and do things, and then I got a stomach flu that has completely flattened me. The last thing I'm thinking about right now is food. I "may" get a bit of banana down today--I hope.

Much of cooking is about creativity. It's these interesting pairings that make cooking about so much more than eating. In terms of time, the eating is usually an insignificant part. I can't wait to see what is up next on the menu!

Happy New Year!

Here's a combo you're probably familiar with:
Stomach flu and ginger ale.

Call your closest Chinese delivery place and get some egg drop soup; it will help ease you back to eating. With this cold weather, it will warm you up, too.

Thanks for the new entry, Cube-y.

Phil: I saved that and then shifted it to my food blog. I was going to do a combo recipe behind it, then I got sick. Hello to my new friends: jello, lipton noodle soup and ice chips. I need to add that to the list: jello and ice chips, ice chips and...a SNO cone!

K? I had some Chinese soup last night. Made me SICK AS A DOG. What do they put in that stuff? MSG? It's supposed to be bland chicken soup, right? Welcome to our new world of toxic germs...FROM HELL. Can you tell I'm sick of being sick? I weighed myself this morning. I've dropped 15 pounds in less than a week. Why don't they promote this as a diet? Wait. They used to do this in Rome, didn't they?

Perhaps you've discovered a new strain of influenza the nation can be panicked over.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yummy, nice associations!! Did you try some toasts of Goat Cheese with Honey ? I also love mixing strawberries with salted flavours! ^^

Clochette: My Maman got me started on salt with fruit, especially melon. Since I don't use much salt in my day to day, it's a safe edition.

Lovely. You could just go on forever. Some of my favorites you've listed are: mayo and french fries, chicken and peanut, capers and smoked salmon, filet mignon and truffles. This list really makes me appreciate food even more!

I am new to your blog, and want you to know I find your writing voice very compelling and enjoyable! I will be back.

Also, this post makes me think you'd enjoy reading a book called The Flavor Bible: The Essential Guide To Culinary Creativity Based On The Wisdom of America's Most Imaginative Chefs, by Karen Page. It is all about specific pairings of foods and flavors and why they are so universally loved.

I really enjoy your blog.
